About the Role
As Buyer – Direct Materials, you will be responsible for driving and developing procurement activities within your assigned area. The role includes both operational and strategic procurement and is an important part of the company’s product development projects.
You will work closely with colleagues within R&D and Product Management, as well as other parts of the business. You will also collaborate with the wider procurement organisation across the group, both nationally and internationally, to ensure competitive, sustainable, and high-quality products.
The role requires a strong ability to understand technical requirements, evaluate commercial opportunities, and translate the needs of the organisation into effective supplier solutions. You will have the opportunity to influence supplier selection, cost development, quality, and delivery performance throughout the product lifecycle.
The position is primarily based in Gustavsberg, Stockholm (Sweden), with a possibility to be based in Vårgårda (Sweden), Rauma (Finland), or Stuttgart (Germany). Travel is required as part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- establishing and developing long-term relationships with existing and new suppliers
- monitoring the market and identifying potential future partners
- preparing and compiling RFQs in close collaboration with internal stakeholders
- analysing and evaluating quotations and presenting well-founded decision-making documentation
- ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including REACH, CBAM, EUDR, and international trade regulations
- negotiating commercial terms and establishing supplier agreements
- monitoring costs, delivery performance, and overall supplier performance
- conducting supplier evaluations and driving supplier development activities
- leading improvement initiatives and cost reduction activities
- supporting the organisation in procurement-related matters, including quality and delivery issues
- managing day-to-day purchasing activities.
Your Profile
To succeed in this role, we believe that you have at least five years of experience in procurement or a similar position. You have a relevant post-secondary education within engineering, industrial economics, procurement, or a related field, alternatively equivalent professional experience.
You are commercially minded, analytical, and structured, with the ability to manage both detailed questions and broader business considerations. You are a skilled negotiator and comfortable taking ownership of supplier relationships, commercial discussions, and procurement-related decisions.
As the role involves close collaboration with several parts of the organisation, you are communicative and relationship-oriented. You enjoy working cross-functionally and are comfortable interacting with stakeholders from different professional backgrounds and geographical locations.
You also have a technical mindset and the ability to understand product requirements, functionality, materials, and design. You are solution-oriented, pragmatic, and accountable, with a clear focus on creating long-term value for the business. Since the role is varied, it is also important that you are flexible and willing to support the organisation where needed.
You have excellent English skills, strong proficiency in Excel, and experience working with IT systems for procurement and reporting.
Meritorious Experience
It is considered an advantage if you have:
- experience from industrial manufacturing
- knowledge of sanitary ceramics, bathroom furniture, wellness products, or related components
- an understanding of materials, product functionality, and manufacturing processes
- experience working in an international environment.
